Portable Hospital Training Exercise

New Mexico Department of Health will be participating in a training exercise during the morning hours of October 20 at General Franklin E. Miles Park, located near the intersection of Camino Carlos Rey and Siringo Road in Santa Fe, NM.

The Department will be setting up its portable Emergency Medical Treatment and Triage System (EMTTS). The portable hospital provides treatment space for six beds with surge capability to 12 beds and remote treatment capability for emergency services or large scale public health events.

"This event is part of the Department's ongoing public health preparedness efforts to improve New Mexico's ability to respond to a naturally occurring or man-made health crisis,” said Department of Health Cabinet Secretary Retta Ward, MPH. “Preparedness is crucial, and we are committed to enhancing our readiness in every way possible."

Funding for the EMTTS was provided by the Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Program which is managed by the Department’s Bureau of Health Emergency Management.
