Jackson Compliance
The Jackson lawsuit was filed in 1987.
Plaintiffs alleged and sought relief from unconstitutional and illegal conditions at the institutions that the State of New Mexico operated for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (Fort Stanton and Los Lunas).
In 1990, the Court entered an order that directed Defendants to correct deficiencies in state institutions for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Although all state institutions were closed by 1997, Defendants are required to meet ongoing orders of the Court.
